A horological practice in four movements Begin ↓

A self-taught watchmaker arrives at the bench from mechanical engineering, refusing the inheritance of convention.

Anton Suhanov founded his atelier in Saint Petersburg in 2018, after an apprenticeship under Konstantin Chaykin. Without the inherited grammar of classical horology, his vocabulary is composed at the bench—each complication invented, not borrowed.

The 2016 F.P. Journe Young Talents Competition recognised the practice early. The 2025 GPHG Horological Revelation Prize confirmed it.

Four movements, each its own argument.

  1. i. Pharos Three-axis tourbillon, table format
  2. ii. Lotus Time, indicated through unfolding
  3. iii. Racer Jumping hours, GMT, dashboard idiom
  4. iv. Chronotope Retrograde day, on a small interval

Every component conceived, machined, finished, and assembled in-house.

The atelier holds a quiet position against the prevailing winds of horology. It does not adopt; it composes. The triple-axis tourbillon, the luminous balance, the unconventional indication — these are not gestures toward novelty but the natural consequence of a practice unburdened by inherited form.

“The absence of classical instruction is not a limitation — it is a freedom.”
